UK Merchant Activation Guide

Bank Requirements

  • DPS customers need to arrange a “merchant facility” with one of the acquiring banks that DPS has connectivity to. For more information on the banks that are presently supported, please visit the connectivity page.
  • Supported card types are Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diners, UK Maestro, Solo and Visa debit (delta).
  • To accept American Express, please speak with your bank. 
  • To facilitate the flow of funds between Payment Express and HSBC, please request to be setup on HSBC’s API (application programmable interface). Please refer to the table below for more information

Barclaycard
Barclaycard merchants requiring an e-commerce facility with DPS are required to provide a Merchant ID in the format (7 digits), a Merchant Account Sort Code (6 digits), a Merchant Account Number (8 digits, and your Merchant Account Type Code (1 digit).

Preauthorisation / Completion

Preauthorisation / completion is a two stage transactional process which involves validating a credit card in its first phase before completing the transaction. To facilitate this type of transaction, preauthorisation / completion must be enabled at your bank.

Multi Currency

Multi currency processing will enable you to accept currencies other than British Pounds. HSBC and Barclaycard supports this feature. Please speak to your bank about the different currencies you would like to accept.  For more information on multi currency processing click here
